SensualRead is a small, independent library of romance and literary erotica for adults, published under a pen name, Vesna Adair. The library has been growing since March 2026. Everything here is free to read in full, online, with no account.
SensualRead publishes romance because romance takes desire seriously as a subject, and literary erotica because the moment two people stop pretending is the most interesting thing that can happen on a page. The stories are about consent, wanting, and what it costs to say so out loud. The belief behind the site is a simple one: sensual fiction deserves the same artistry as any other kind, with rich prose, atmospheric settings and characters worth an evening.
What is in the library
At the heart of the library are seven long original stories, each complete on one page: The Shadow King’s Bride, Bitten at Midnight, The Courtesan’s Secret, Signal From Andromeda, The Druid’s Offering, The Last Room at the Grey Bell and The Treaty Bride. Beside them runs The Midnight Garden, a dark fantasy serial in twelve chapters, published a chapter at a time from August 2026.
Alongside them are forty shorter stories, published in March 2026 across twelve genres, from dark fantasy, vampire and paranormal romance to historical, gothic, sci-fi, Celtic myth and contemporary. Some borrow openly from myth and the classics, from Celtic legend to a Thornfield Hall that owes a debt to Jane Eyre. The stories hub groups them by mood, and the reading guides explain each genre and trope, with the stories that fit.
How the heat ratings work
The seven long originals carry a flame rating, and their content notes sit in the “About This Story” box at the end of each one. The Midnight Garden is rated as a whole: four flames, with the heat kept restrained on the page. The shorter stories are not rated; unrated means sensual and atmospheric rather than graphic.

Ratings measure heat, not darkness. A dark fantasy story can be a two; a contemporary one can be a five.
What you will not find here
No ads, no paywall, no account. The library is free to read and stays free. Partway through each of the seven long originals there is an optional sign-up card, and “No thanks, keep reading without subscribing” sits right under its button. The newsletter is optional and sends about one email a week, with a story written for subscribers, Velvet & Thorns, as a thank-you.
Everything here is fiction about consenting adults. Some stories begin with a bargain, a tribute or a marriage nobody chose, but none presents non-consent as romance. Every character in a romantic or sexual scene is an adult, and nothing here is written for anyone under eighteen. Where a story carries a flame rating and content notes, they are there to save you time.
